| What to Wear? |

What you wear for your session can make a huge difference in your pictures! That's why it's so important that you make a good choice. Here I have listed a few tips to help you get started:

  • First of all, wear clothing that you are comfortable in! Try on what you are planning to wear for the shoot ahead of time to make sure that you are pleased with the way it fits you. Uncomfortable clothes will make it much harder for you to just be YOU in front of the camera!

  • Try to stick with solid and neutral colors--unless it's at a minimal, patterns and words will only steer the focus away from your face, which is the most important part of a portrait!

  • Choose tones that go well with your skin and hair color. For example, if you have a paler complexion -  pick warmer colors. And vise versa.

  • Consider the weather, and dress appropriately. =)  Warm clothes for the colder season, and cooler clothes for the warm months.  If planning a session in the late fall-early spring, it's also a good idea to bring along some coats for wearing in-between locations, etc.!

  • Ladies: avoid low-cut, tight tops, and short skirts/shorts. Modest clothing will be more flattering, and as I pointed out before--will bring the attention back to where we want it to be.

  • For families/group photos, keep to a just few colors (no more than about 3 or 4), and make sure that they go well together. Most of the time, it's best not to have everyone identically matched--putting everyone in white shirts, for instance--as this tends to make everyone in the photo blend together too much.  An easy way to find coordinating outfits for an entire family is to start with 1-3 matching (even patterned) outfits that you just love, and then build all other outfits off of that using same colors.

  • Have fun with it!  Go with whatever fits your/your family's style and personalities... and don't stress too much about it. =)

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,
whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price.
Therefore, honor God with your bodies."
